Hey there! I'm Ron Rio and all I have to say is I LOVE RADIO!!! I've been hooked ever since I was a kid with my own little AM/FM radio with a cassette deck. My ear would be glued to the mono speaker dreaming of the day when I would be a radio DJ.
I have a degree in Radio and Television Broadcasting from California State University Los Angeles and have taken workshops to hone in the voice skills. Some of the notable workshops include working with Radio Rock and Hall of Fame DJ, Tom Clay, and studying voice acting via the Kalmenson Method. I spent some time at a couple of small market radio stations and an internet radio broacast company as well. Along the way I've done TV and radio commercial spots, promos, narrations and emceed events.
For a while I took the gig on the road and was a cruise ship DJ playing music in the disco at night and being part of the entertainment staff. That was a lot of fun doing the DJ thing by dark and by day exploring different exotic ports of call.
A couple of years ago I updated my radio skill set with the broadcast arts program at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, California. I got up to date with the latest software and equipment. Plus, I have a regular air shift at their smooth jazz station, KSBR.
Currently I work for CBS Radio in LA as a board operator for K-Earth 101, 94.7 The Wave and KFWB. My work day is spent at a different sound booth around town and that's the way I like it!
